“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”
I always hear this when our pastor encourages us to share the word of God to other people. I believe most of us before accepting Christ and became Christian, someone spoken to us about it and from these words, our faith blooms. Also our pastor mentioned this verse in times that he encourages us read bible as this will help our faith grows.
So it is not about the good things that or bad things your faith will come. (Though there is no universal law for this as John Newton been saved by his faith on his darkest hours.) But based on my experience it is not always. We can easily say that, “Lord help me now and I will serve you” (bad times) or “Lord thank you for your blessing and I will serve you now” (good times).
We can easily feel that our faith improves (hopefully improves not weaken) by the circumstances happen in our life. But as what I’ve learned in life circumstances happens and our heart is deceitful above all things (Jeremiah 17:9). We can easily say or believe that we have better faith now based on circumstances but maybe we are only get deceived by our emotion.
To end this, for us to enrich our faith, read bible as well as listen to Word of God from other christians as it is written clearly on Roman 10:17, that faith comes from hearing the word of God.
