“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” -John 14:18
You are able to read this not only on single verse but several times from old testament to new testament. This is a promise of God to us as nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:31). And me, I always remember this verse every time I’m afraid or in the situation of doubt if God it still love because of my sin I made of. And yet in John 14:18, it is a very true that He will never leave us.
Compare with other verse with almost the same context, what makes John 14:18 different is the word “orphans.” So why He mentioned it? So orphans based on dictionary, this is a child whose parents are dead. This is a spiritual parents and who is our parent? Read John 8:44 The sad truth until we accepted Jesus Christ and became Christian that is why we are orphans and now we inherited the Sonship (Galatians 4:7).
“He will come to us.” Yes he did it literally when God sent Jesus Christ to save us and show the way to salvation and with the Holy Spirit He is always with us.
Hallelujah! He will never leave us nor forsake us
