“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
This verse is really for me as sometimes I feel that it is really difficult to live good in this world full of temptation, sins, problems. And sometime even bad things we believe it is good and acceptable too God since this is the way of the world. But in verse I read today, Paul reminds christian to keep on doing good despite of bad things that come in their life. That will be a challenge, an opportunity for us to good.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
This verse is inviting everyone who never even feel the goodness of God. Just taste and you will see that he can be a refuge for us. In any doubt, problems and trials we are experiencing we can find the refuge on him. Just taste and you will see.
You can also hold into this verse in case that you already accepted Jesus. You can say to him that as we accepted him we want to taste His goodness. Just a simple reminder, God said accepting him and being a christian is not easy we will experience persecution and trials that we will make us stronger and will purify them. Above of these challenges, we shouldn’t worry because God is with us and by His goodness we have refuge.
“For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.”
-2 Corinthians 7:10
I don’t know if I’m the only one doing this but sometimes, I feel sad especially upon listening on christian songs and think about me and what God have done for me. And from that thoughts, I feel sorry on what I’ve done despite of him being good to me I did things that he don’t want.
But sometimes we are too busy in this world or sometimes we can’t think about the goodness of God because we are suffering from worldly grief. Problems and challenges in life that can make you think and doubt about the love God. The worst if we are going to ask a question of, “how a God of love let us experience such pain.”
So just stop whatever your are doing right now and think about God and what goodness he done to us. Repent for our sins because that repentance will lead us to salvation.
“Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”
God wants us to become patient as this will direct us to righteousness. But most of the time we are losing this value as how this world making us. Technlogy making our life easy and affects our patience a lot. We want instant, we want easy in most things. But how it affects lot is how people become easily to anger and that anger will leads you unrighteous.
“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.”
-1 Peter 4:12-13
I know this is one of the most difficult things to do as Christian, next on loving your enemies. We are human, and as a human we have emotion, deceitful emotion (Jeremiah 17:9) that can be easily changed based on what we feel. There are times that we forget God either on happiness or sadness but mostly on trials. That is why Peter reminds us that this trials are test but we should not be shaken but remain in faith as we share the same suffering as Christ, those persecution, those temptation and yet in the end, Jesus Christ conquered the world and his glory revealed.
Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid.
It’s clearly from the verse that knowledge comes from discipline, so if we seek knowledge we need to seek discipline first. Self discipline on accepting our fault and set aside our ego when someone correct us.
As a video game player, one thing that I learned from a professional player when said that pride makes a player weak. I acknowledge that so every time I got mistake and someone reproof it even on good way or saying not a good words on me, still accept it as a learning from my mistake.
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.
Everyone has their own weaknesses and be tempted everyday on his life. Our pastor always asking us, do you think temptation is good or evil? From James 1: 13-14, the verse said that we can’t say that we are being tempted by God but by our own desire. It is our ticket to do good or bad. And mostly the result will be based on our own desire, it is either good or evil. So what’s our desire?
